Lent 2024: Easy And Comforting Seafood Casserole Recipe

The period of abstinence for Catholics during Lent also extends to the spectrum of dietary routines. Use an assortment of fresh seafood for a creamy and savoury meal to enjoy alongside some fresh salad and bread.

INGREDIENTS

2 small tilapia fillets, cubed 7-8 medium prawns, cleaned ¾ cup crab meat, deshelled 5 cloves garlic, minced 1 teaspoon onion powder 1 teaspoon red chilli flakes 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard ½ cup heavy cream 1 teaspoon black pepper powder 4 tablespoons butter ¾ cup hot water 1 chicken stock cube 2 tablespoons white wine 1 teaspoon chopped parsley ¼ cup breadcrumbs Salt, to taste

STEP 1

Melt the butter in the pan until foamy and add the shrimp and tilapia cubes to cook for 45 seconds on each side.

STEP 2

Add the garlic and sauté until aromatic, before deglazing with white wine and allowing it to come to a simmer.

STEP 3

Add the onion powder, red chilli flakes, mustard and black pepper, before pouring in the hot water and crumbling the stock cube in.

STEP 4

Add the heavy cream, followed by the crab meat to mix well and season adequately with salt.

STEP 5

Transfer to a greased baking dish and top with breadcrumbs and parsley, to bake at 175°C for 10-12 minutes until bubbling. Serve hot.
