Thepla is a well-known Gujarati delicacy that is a flavourful and filling breakfast. Learn how to make it.
2 cups wheat flour, ¼ cup besan, ½ tsp Kashmiri red chili powder, 1 tsp sesame seeds, ¼ tsp turmeric, ½ tsp carom seeds, 1 green chilli, salt to taste, 1 inch ginger, 1 cup methi leaves, ½ cup curd, water as required, 2 tsp oil, 5 tsp oil /ghee
In a mixing bowl take wheat flour, besan, chili powder, turmeric, sesame seeds, carom seeds, salt, green chili, ginger. Now add finely chopped methi leaves.
Give a rough mix making sure the spices are combined well. Then, add curd, water and combine the dough well.
Knead the dough to smooth and soft texture and add 2 tsp of oil and knead the dough for 5 more minutes.
Now pinch a medium sized ball dough and roll it to a thin chapati. Now on a hot tawa place the rolled thepla and cook for a minute.
Furthermore, when the base is partly cooked, flip the thepla. Brush oil / ghee and press slightly. Finally, serve methi thepla with raita and pickle.
