Chef Anahita Dhondy Bhandari in her Episode #31 of #BeanieFriday shares a famous Lahori recipe, Lahori Chikkar Chana, that makes for a hearty and satisfying meal, perfect for a comforting Friday dinner.
Chickpeas soaked overnight - 2 cups Potatoes boiled - 2 medium Dahi - 1 cup Oil - 2 tbsp Jeera - 2 tsp Red chilli powder - 2 tsp Haldi - 2 tsp Garam masala - 2 tsp Salt - as needed Green chilli chopped - 2 Coriander for garnish
Soak chickpeas overnight or for 6-7 hours. Boil potatoes in salted water, then mash with yoghurt.
Heat oil in a kadhai, splatter jeera, and add green chilli and dry spices. Mix in the potato-yoghurt blend, then add chickpeas with water and stir.
Boil until thickened, garnish with coriander, and serve with rice, salad, and achaar.
