Presenting red sauce pasta to children introduces them to a variety of flavours and textures, providing a tasty and healthy meal.
250g pasta (penne or spaghetti) 2 tablespoons olive oil 1 onion, finely chopped 2 cloves garlic, minced 1 red bell pepper, diced 1 carrot, grated 1 cup tomato passata 1 teaspoon dried oregano 1 teaspoon dried basil Salt and pepper to taste Grated cheese for serving (optional)
Cook the pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, sautéing until fragrant.
Add the diced red bell pepper and grated carrot, cooking until softened. Pour in the tomato passata and season with dried oregano, dried basil, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 10-15 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.
