Mulberries are a sadly underappreciated berry, but they have a delightful sweet taste that makes them perfect for cocktails. This recipe pairs berries with sparkling wine (and rum if you'd like) for a tingly refresher perfect for your next pool party.
1 cup fresh mulberries ½ cup sugar ½ cup water 1 bottle of sparkling wine ½ cup white rum (optional) Ice Fresh mint for garnish
Mash the mulberries and then simmer them in a saucepan with sugar and water till they form a syrupy consistency
Strain this through a fine sieve and then let it cool.
In a large pitcher add the mulberry syrup, sparkling wine and rum if using. Pour over ice and garnish with mint.
