Kerala-style fish curry is a delightful and flavourful preparation that seafood lovers should not miss out on. It is spicy, tangy, and brimming with the heat of ginger and earthiness from garlic. Follow this recipe to make it at home.
3 tbsp coconut oil 1 cup coconut milk 1/2 tsp mustard seeds, turmeric 2 sprigs curry leaves 6 cloves garlic 1/4 tsp fenugreek seeds 10 Indian small onions 2 green chillies 1/2-inch piece ginger 1 tsp salt 2 tsp red chilli, coriander 3 pieces tamarind 250 grams Sardine / Mathi Meen
Heat coconut oil in a pan and saute fenugreek seeds, curry leaves, and mustard seeds.
Add crushed ginger and garlic along with chopped shallots and slit green chillies.
Once the onions are brown, add all the powdered spices. When spices are cooked, add water.
Pour tamarind water and let the ingredients simmer for 5 minutes. Now add coconut milk.
Add sardines to the pan and cook.
Remove the curry from the pan and garnish with coriander and serve.
