Kerala Choora Meen Curry Recipe For A Seafood Delight

Ingredients

For Marination: 500 gms Choora Meen/Tuna Fish ¼ tsp turmeric powder 2 tsp red chilli powder Salt to taste For Curry Paste: ½ cup grated coconut 8-10 shallots 1 small piece ginger 2 cloves garlic ½ tsp turmeric powder

Curry Paste (contd) 2 ½ tsp red chilli powder ¼ tbsp coriander powder ¼ tsp fenugreek seeds Tamarind/Kudampuli pulp   For Curry: Marinated Fish Curry Paste 1 tsp Mustard Seeds 2-3 green chillies, slit lengthwise 2 sprig Curry leaves Salt to taste Coconut Oil as required

Step 1

In a bowl, marinate the tuna fish with turmeric powder, red chilli powder, and salt. Allow it to marinate for 15 minutes.

Step 2

Blend grated coconut, ginger, garlic, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, coriander powder, fenugreek seeds, shallots, a few curry leaves, and tamarind pulp and blend into a smooth paste.

Step 3

Heat coconut oil over medium flame. Add mustard seeds and let them splutter. Add green chillies, curry leaves, and the prepared curry paste. Sauté for a few minutes. 

Step 4

Add salt and mix well. Pour in 1 1/2 cups of water, cover the pot with a lid, and bring the curry to a boil.

Step 5

As the curry simmers over a low flame, add the marinated fish pieces. Cook until the fish is done, stirring at intervals. 

Step 6

Finish by adding a drizzle of coconut oil and fried curry leaves on top. Allow the curry to sit for 10-20 minutes before serving.
