Proper storage of cooking oil is essential to maintain its quality and extend its shelf life. Here are five tips to help you store cooking oil effectively.

Keep Away from Heat

Store cooking oil in a cool, dark place away from heat sources like the stove. Heat can cause oil to spoil faster.

Use Dark Containers

Choose dark or opaque containers to protect oil from light, which can degrade its quality over time.

Seal Tightly

Always seal the container tightly after each use to prevent air from entering, which can lead to oxidation and rancidity.

Avoid Refrigeration

Most cooking oils solidify in the fridge, affecting their texture and usability. Store at room temperature unless it’s a specialty oil.

Label and Date

Label the container with the purchase date and keep track of its shelf life to ensure you use the oil before it goes bad.
