Karva Chauth and mathri go hand-in-hand. Even though you can get mathri from your store next door, the joy of making it at home is unmatched. To make meethi mathri at home, you can follow this step-wise recipe.
2 cups whole wheat flour 1 cup water 1/2 cup ghee 1/2 cup sugar 1/4 teaspoon saunf 1/4 teaspoon elaichi A pinch of salt Oil for frying
Knead a dough with whole wheat flour, ghee, sugar, saunf, elaichi, and salt.
Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rest for half an hour.
Take small portions from the smoothened dough. Roll into thin circles.
Prick the circles with a fork to prevent them from overpuffing while frying. Heat up oil and deep fry.
Prepare chashni by simmering sugar and water. Dip and coat the fried mathris in the chashni.
Let them cool down. Finally, enjoy them as an evening snack.
