Karivepaku Podi: Curry Leaves Powder Recipe For South Indian Recipes

Karivepaku Podi, also known as curry leaves powder, is a South Indian essential. If you often cook South Indian dishes instead of buying a pre-packed masala, here’s how you can make the podi at home.

Ingredients

1 teaspoon  oil 1 tablespoon  channa dal 1 tablespoon  urad dal 1 tablespoon  dhaniya 1 teaspoon jeera 1 teaspoon  black pepper 5 dry red chillies 1 cup loosely packed  curry leaves 1 tamarind, small lemon size Salt to taste

Step 1

To make the podi, add in oil and roast on slow flame till aromatic.

Step 2

Add the rest of the ingredients and cook till the curry leaves are a little crispy.

Step 3

Grind this into a fine powder and let it rest.

Step 4

Store it in an airtight container till next use.
