Kacche Aam Ki dal: Summer Special Lentil Dish

The Kacche Aam Aur Lehsun Ki Dal Recipe is a hearty, tasty dal that is jam-packed with the flavours of roasted garlic and grated raw mangoes.

Ingredients

1 cup toor dal 1 raw mango, peeled and chopped 2 tomatoes, chopped 2-3 green chillies, chopped 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder Salt to taste 2 1/2 cups of water 2 tablespoons chopped coriander leaves 1 tablespoon ghee 1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds 2 dry red chilies 5-6 garlic cloves, chopped 1/4 teaspoon asafoetida 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder

Step 1

In a pan add water and wash the toor dal thoroughly. Now add toor dal along with chopped raw mangoes, tomatoes, green chillies.

Step 2

Add turmeric powder, salt to taste, and 2 1/2 cups of water. Cover and cook for  4 whistles. Turn off the heat.

Step 3

Now Allow the pressure to release naturally, and then open the pressure cooker.

Step 4

Stir in the chopped coriander leaves to the cooked dal. Check the salt and spice levels, and adjust them to your taste.

Step 5

Add more water to adjust the consistency of the dal if required.Transfer the dal to a serving bowl.

Step 6

Make the tadka for the dal, heat the ghee in add cumin seeds, dry red chilies, and chopped garlic. Saute well.

Step 7

Add asafoetida and red chili powder to Immediately turn off the heat. Spoon the prepared tadka over the dal and serve.

Step 8

Serve the Kacche Aam dal  with rotis  or steamed rice. Enjoy this tangy and tasty dal.
