Did you know that there is a boozy egg-based drink associated with Christmas? Well, here’s all you need to know about eggnog then.
For the unversed, it is a Christmas-special drink sipped during holiday season across England and US and is made with a combination of eggs and alcohol.
One belief states that noggin was the wooden cup in which the drink was served in the 16th century. Another highlights how Americans called egg-based drinks grog and the two words meshed together to form eggnog.
The journey started with posset, a warm ale punch made of eggs and figs drunk by British monks in the medieval period. This changed in the 17th century with addition of sherry that made it an elite drink.

In Peruvian culture, eggs are mixed with a special brandy instead of rum for Christmas while Puerto Rico prepares a coconut milk-based eggnog sans eggs called coquito.
