There are various types of wild mushrooms available in Jharkhand. Puttu has a close resemblance to the rare mushroom rugda but is smaller in size and is more widely available. These are delicious and very nutritious to try.
500 grams fresh Puttu mushrooms 1 large onion 3-4 garlic cloves 2 green chillies 1 tsp turmeric powder 1 tsp red chilli powder 1 tsp coriander powder 1 tsp cumin seeds 1/2 tsp garam masala A pinch of asafoetida Salt to taste 2-3 tablespoons mustard oil
Cut the mushrooms into medium-sized pieces after cleaning thoroughly.

Heat mustard oil in a pan. Add cumin seeds, asafoetida, chopped onion, garlic, green chillies, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, coriander powder, and garam masala.

Sauté for a few seconds until the raw aroma disappears.

Add the sliced puttu mushrooms to the pan and simmer until soft.

Serve hot with rice or roti.
