Javas Chutney: Delicious Maharashtrian Flaxseed Mixture

In India, you will find dry chutney mixtures in many households. The delicious dry mixture powder can be stored in jars, used in recipes to enhance the flavour, or mixed with water to serve with snacks. Here is the recipe for javas chutney from Maharashtra.

Ingredients

1 cup flaxseeds Salt to taste 4-5 cloves of garlic 2 tsp chilli powder 1 tsp cumin powder

Step 1

Take a cup of flaxseeds and dry roast them in the oven or over a hot pan to ensure there is no moisture.

Step 2

Add all the ingredients to the blender one by one and put on the lid.

Step 3

Blend seeds and spices into a dry powdered mixture with no lumps.

Step 4

Store the nutritious mixture in an airtight container. 

Step 5

Serve the chutney on the side of ragi dosa, bajra bhakri, and steamed rice.
