Originating in Karnataka, thambittu is a traditional South Indian sweet which is a specially prepared on Janmashtami. Here is an easy recipe to prepare thambittu at home.

½ cup dry coconuts 2 tbsp sesame seeds ¼ cup peanuts ¼ cup roasted chana ½ cup jaggery ½ cup brown rice 1 tbsp water

Dry roast sesame seeds, peanuts, chana, dry coconut and rice. Then ground them into smooth powder.

Heat a pan and add water and jaggery. Let it melt and switch off the flame. Later add in grounded smooth powder and give it a good mix.

Then grease your hands with ghee and make small balls with the prepared mix and your thambittu is ready to serve.
