International Sushi Day 2024: Make Restaurant-Style Salmon Sushi At Home

This sushi day, bring the flavours of restaurant-style salmon sushi at home with this easy recipe. The combination of fresh and tender salmon with soothing rice and the balance of savoury soy sauce, tangy pickled ginger, and spicy wasabi makes every bite an exquisite experience.

Ingredients

1 cup sushi rice 1 1/4 cups water 2 tablespoons rice vinegar 1 tablespoon sugar 1 teaspoon salt Fresh salmon fillet (sashimi-grade) Nori (seaweed sheets) Soy sauce (for dipping) Wasabi (optional) Pickled ginger (optional)

Step 1

Rinse sushi rice and cook the rice with 1 1/4 cups until rice is tender and sticky.

Step 2

Season the rice with a mixture of rice vinegar, sugar and salt as per the given measures. 

Step 3

Use a sashimi-grade salmon fillet. With a sharp knife, slice the salmon into even-sized pieces.

Step 4

Wet your hands and take a small amount of rice to make an oval shape.

Step 5

Place a slice of salmon on each ball and press to make it stick. Add tiny daps of wasabi in between. Sushi is ready to eat!

Step 6

Another way to make sushi is by spreading rice on nori sheet, placing salmon slices in between and rolling it over with the help of a mat.

Step 7

Then cut this roll into bite-sized pieces, serve and enjoy.
