If you are craving idli right now and do not want to spend a single minute fermenting the batter, try instant rava idli. You can prepare the batter in less than 5 minutes and enjoy idli for breakfast or brunch.
2 cups rava 1 cup curd 3 cups water/ buttermilk 1 tbsp oil 1.5 tsp mustard seeds 7-8 curry leaves 1 tbsp chana dal 1 tsp red chilli powder ½ tsp urad dal Salt to taste ¼ tsp turmeric powder
Prepare the tempering by heating oil and adding mustard seeds to it.
Meanwhile, keep rava soaked in either water or buttermilk. Add curd for softness.
Add chana dal and urad dal to the tempering. Once they turn brown, add turmeric and red chilli.
Pour the tempering into the rava mixture along with coriander leaves and salt.
Let the batter sit for 15 minutes and prepare coconut chutney on the side.
Pour idli batter into the mould and steam it for 15 minutes. Your idlis are ready.
