Bread Rasmalai is a variation of the traditional Indian dessert called Rasmalai. In this version, instead of using paneer (Indian cottage cheese) balls soaked in thickened milk, bread slices are used as a substitute. The bread slices are typically soaked in sweetened milk, flavoured with cardamom, saffron, and sometimes nuts like pistachios or almonds.
6 slices of white bread 4 cups of whole milk 1 cup of sugar 1/2 teaspoon cardamom powder A pinch of saffron Chopped nuts for garnish (pistachios, almonds)
Trim the bread edges and cut into rounds.
Boil milk; add sugar, cardamom, and saffron.
Soak bread in milk for 5-7 minutes.
Place the soaked bread on a dish.
Pour the milk mixture over the bread. Garnish with chopped nuts.
Chill for 2–3 hours. Serve cold. Enjoy!
