Warm, gooey cookies coated in a fluffy batter and dusted with powdered sugar are a lesser-known American classic which can be easily recreated at home. Enjoy these treats hot out of the fryer, as it is or with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for the ultimate pleasure.
1 cup all-purpose flour 1 tablespoon baking powder ½ teaspoon salt 1 tablespoon sugar 1 egg ½ teaspoon vanilla extract 2 tablespoons melted butter 1 cup milk 10 Oreo Cookies Vegetable oil, for frying Powdered sugar, for dusting
Combine the flour, salt, baking powder and sugar in a bowl while you whisk the egg, milk, vanilla and butter in another.
Pour the wet mixture into the dry mixture and make a thick batter, while you heat oil in a large pot.
Using a fork, dip each Oreo into the batter and gently drop into the hot oil to fry until lightly golden and fluffy.
Remove from the oil and place on a paper towel. Dust with powdered sugar and serve hot.
