Hyderabadi Shahi Tukda: Treat From The Royal Kitchens

A popular Mughlai dessert, Shahi Tukda is most popular in Hyderabad and is also known as Double Ka Meetha.

Ingredients

5 bread slices 3 ½ cup of milk ½ cup milk powder ¾ cup sugar 1 cup ghee 1 green cardamom A pinch of saffron ½ tsp kewra essence 3-4 cashews 4 almonds 8 pistachios 

Slice each bread slice into half to form triangular slices, and cut their edges off. 

Bring milk to a boil in a pot. Keep the flame on medium, once boiled add ¼ cup sugar and milk powder. 

Cook the milk on low medium flame until it reduces to a thick consistency like that of rabri.

Now add ½ cup of sugar to a pan with ½ cup water. Add cardamom and saffron to it, bring to boil and let it simmer for 3-4 minutes. Switch off the flame. 

Now heat ghee in a wok and fry bread pieces in it till golden brown. 

Chop the nuts to a coarse mixture and add it to the milk mix along with kewra Place the bread pieces on a plate and pour the rabri all ove it. Top with nuts and serve.
