The container in which you store the pickle should be wiped dry. There should be no moisture in the jar.
Adding vinegar to the pickle keeps it fresh for a long time. It is a natural preservative.
Add lots of mustard oil in your pickle. Pouring oil generously helps the pickle stay fresh for long.
Make sure that your jar is fully air-tight. It is the main precaution you should take.
Every once in a while, put your pickle in the sunlight to keep it fresh for a long time.
