Sprouting moong beans at home is a simple way to boost nutrition in your diet. The process transforms dried beans into crunchy, fresh sprouts, rich in protein, vitamins, and enzymes. Sprouted moong is perfect for salads, curries, or snacks, they add health and flavour to every meal.
Wash 1 cup of whole moong beans thoroughly to remove dust or impurities.
Soak the beans in plenty of water for 8-10 hours or overnight. Ensure the water level is at least twice the volume of the beans.
After soaking, drain the water completely and rinse the beans again.
Place the beans in a clean muslin cloth or a sprouting container. Tie the cloth loosely or cover the container. Keep it in a warm, dark place like a cupboard.
Rinse the beans every 12 hours to keep them moist but not waterlogged. Sprouts should appear in 1-2 days.
Once sprouted, store in the refrigerator and consume within 2-3 days for maximum freshness.
