How To Ripe Bananas At Home? Useful Methods

The benefit of buying slightly green bananas is that they don’t get spoiled early and you can enjoy them for a long time after buying a bunch. But if you want to eat some of them right away and they are not ripe enough, here’s how you can ripe them at home.

Paper Bag Method (Takes 1-2 Days)

Place bananas in a paper bag and seal the opening, add an apple or avocado with it and let it sit. The ethylene gas released from bananas and apple will ripen it.

Oven Method (Takes 15-20 minutes)

Preheat the oven to 150°C or 300°F, place bananas on a baking sheet and bake for 15 minutes until skin turns black. This will ripen and soften bananas.

Microwave Method (Takes 30 seconds to 1 minute)

Poke holes in banana peels with a fork, place on a tray and microwave for 30 seconds or a minute until soft.

Room Temperature (Takes 2-4 days)

Let the bananas sit at room temperature for 2 to 4 days to ripen them naturally.

In a Warm Environment (Takes 1-3 days)

Keep bananas in a warm area like in front of the microwave or beside the stove to ripen them in a few days.
