How To Prepare Chole Without Onion And Garlic?

Chole is the most loved and popular Indian dish, made with chickpeas, spices and mostly onion and garlic. But in various parts of India, it is cooked without onion and garlic. Here is a step-by-step method for making chole without onion and garlic:  

Ingredients

450 g - Dried chickpeas, soaked overnight and drained 2 tbsp - Vegetable oil 1 tbsp - Grated ginger 1 tsp - Cumin seeds 1 tsp - Coriander powder 1 tsp - Garam masala 1 tsp - Red chili powder 2 - Diced tomatoes 1 tsp - Salt Chopped cilantro for garnish 

Step 1

In a pressure cooker, cook the soaked chickpeas with water for 3–4 whistles until tender. Drain and set aside.  

Step 2

In a pan, heat the oil. Add cumin seeds and let them sizzle.  

Step 3

Add grated ginger and cook for 30 seconds.  

Step 4

Stir in coriander powder, garam masala, and red chilli powder. Cook for 1 minute.  

Step 5

Add the diced tomatoes, chickpeas, and salt. Simmer for 10 minutes.  

Step 6

Mash some of the chickpeas against the side of the pan to thicken the sauce. Simmer for 5 more minutes. Finish with some chopped cilantro.
