Pepper fish is a popular preparation in many coastal regions of India. It is spicy, flavourful, and hearty. Here is a quick recipe for cooking in South Indian style. Pair it with yoghurt and a beverage of your choice.
500 gm fish 2 tablespoons garlic 2 tablespoons rice flour 2 tablespoons black pepper Water as required Coconut oil Coriander leaves 2 tablespoons red chilli powder 2 tablespoons ginger 3 tablespoons lemon juice 7-8 curry leaves Salt to taste
Add turmeric powder, lemon powder, black pepper, ginger-garlic paste, and other spices in a food processor and turn it into a smooth paste.
Make sure that the consistency of this paste is thick. If it is too thick, you can add a splash of water while blending.
Take out the spicy mixture in a bowl and add rice flour and a tablespoon of oil to it. Mix everything nicely.
Add fish to the bowl and coat every piece with this spicy blend. Let the fish marinate for at least 30 minutes.
Heat a pan, add coconut oil, and place pieces of fish on it. Cook the fish until both sides turn golden brown.
Top the dish with a tempering of mustard seeds and curry leaves before serving as a snack.
