Sev, the crispy garnish and snack that adds crisp flavour to almost all Indian street foods, is not that difficult to make at home. With this easy-to-follow recipe, you can make and store sev to add to your snacks.

Ingredients

1 cup besan ½ cup rice flour ¾ teaspoon red chilli powder ¾ teaspoon salt ¼ teaspoon turmeric powder 1/8 teaspoon asafoetida (hing) 1 tablespoon oil 2 tablespoons water Oil for frying

Step 1

Mix besan, rice flour, red chilli powder, salt, turmeric powder, and hing.

Step 2

Add hot cooking oil and knead a smooth dough.

Step 3

Grease a sev maker and choose the disc with the desired size of holes.

Step 4

Heat some oil. Fill the sev maker with the dough and release thin strands into the hot oil.

Step 5

Deep fry the sev till crispy. Drain excess oil and store it in an airtight container till you want to use it.
