How To Make Sambar Powder At Home

Sambar masala is one of the most commonly found spices in a kitchen, down South. It is a blend of spices and lentils. Let us make it together.

Ingredients

Sambar masala mix needs tur dal, chana dal, urad dal, black pepper, coriander seeds, cumin seeds, mustard seeds, fenugreek seeds, red chilli and salt.

Step 1

Take a spoon full of coriander, mustard, pepper, fenugreek and cumin seeds each. Dry roast them in a shallow pan.

Step 2

Take all the pulses, 2 table spoons each. heat a pan and dry roast till the colour changes and there is a beautiful roasted aroma.

Step 3

In a pan, dry roast 1 cup of red chillies for 2 minutes and add salt. Let all of these ingredients cool down.

Step 4

Add all of the dry roasted ingredients to a blender or a stone grinder. A blender works faster. Do not add any water or liquid.

Step 5

Blend everything and store in an air-tight jar. Use the mix to make the tastiest sambar.
