If you want the freshest, healthiest and most affordable mung bean sprouts, growing them at home is the perfect solution. However, if you can’t get them to grow right and are afraid of getting them spoiled, here is a perfect fool-proof method for you to try:
Take the best quality mung beans and rinse them well in running water a few times. Remove any broken beans.
Before the seeds begin to sprout, they need to be soaked in water for 8-12 hours to tenderise the outer coat and make germination easy for them.
After the seeds are well soaked, drain the water and rinse once again to remove bacteria that can spoil them.
Transfer the soaked seeds to a container or muslin cloth and keep them in a dark and warm place away from sunlight.
After you’ve kept the beans in a favourable place, it takes 12 hours to sprout on their own. If you want longer sprouts, just rinse them again and keep them in the same place for 3 days or more.
