Idli is a South Indian breakfast dish that is enjoyed as a snack too. It is an easy-to-make recipe and is made using an idli steamer. However, idli when made in pressure cooker is much less time consuming and with much less effort. Take a look at how to make idli in pressure cooker.
2 cups Rice 1 cup urad dal ¼ teaspoon fenugreek seeds Salt to taste Water as required Ghee or oil as required 1 strand of curry leaves ½ tsp yeast
Soak urad dal for 2 hours. Soak rice for 3-4 hours. Add fenugreek seeds to the mix, which will aid in fermentation.
Drain the water from the urad dal and transfer it to the grinder. Grind the dal until it turns into a soft and fluffy batter, adding water as necessary.
Grind the soaked rice in the same grinder, adding water as needed. Grind the rice into a coarse paste.
Transfer the urad dal batter and rice batter in the same vessel. Mix the two batters well. Ferment the batter for 6-8 hours. Add yeast to it to aid fermentation.
Add 1 teaspoon of salt to the batter and mix well.
Grease an idli mould with oil. Now pour the batter into it.
Add ½ cup of water in pressure cooker. Place the mould in pressure cooker. Cook the idlis for 12-20 minutes.
