How To Make Hot Turmeric Milk For Winter

The Golden Milk or Haldi Doodh has been India’s age-old remedy against pain, inflammation, internal injuries and skincare. Did you know they are incredible for immunity too, especially in this season? 

The active compound in turmeric, curcumin, is a potent antioxidant that revs up immunity naturally, alleviating risk of seasonal cold, cough and flu.  

Drinking the milk hot is important to yield all its benefits, cold turmeric milk is not as beneficial. Here’s how to make it. 

Step 1

Add two cups of milk to a saucepan. Add ½ tsp turmeric and ¼ tsp ground ginger powder. 

Step 2

Use a mortar and pestle or a rolling pin to crush a pinch of cardamon, cloves, and peppercorns and add to the milk. Add ½ tsp jaggery. 

Step 3

Cook on medium-low heat and bring to a gentle boil, then lower heat and simmer for additional two to three minutes. Strain, serve, enjoy.
