Gelato, the Italian cousin of ice cream, is a summer-special frozen treat that keeps you refreshed. With this recipe, you don’t have to settle for the store-bought dessert and make your own gelato at home.
2 cups milk 1 cup heavy cream 3/4 cups powdered sugar 3 egg yolks 2 tablespoons cornstarch 1 teaspoon vanilla extract Pinch of salt
Make a custard-like base by heating milk, heavy cream, sugar, cornstarch, and salt in a pan.
Add egg yolks and let the mixture simmer. Once thick, add vanilla extract.
Strain the mixture to remove lumps and refrigerate overnight to get the best taste.
Pour the chilled base into your ice cream maker and churn it for about 20 minutes.
Transfer the churned gelato into an air-tight container and freeze it for 4-5 hours.
Once the gelato is firm, you can dig into your refreshing dessert.
