Masala garlic rice is a yummy and fragrant dish, good for a quick meal or as a side dish. With the flavour of garlic and a blend of spices, this is a simple yet delicious way to transform leftover rice into something special.
2 cups cooked rice 2 tsp oil or ghee 8-10 garlic cloves 1 onion 2 green chillies 1 tsp cumin seeds ½ tsp turmeric powder 1 tsp red chilli powder 1 tsp garam masala Salt to taste Fresh coriander leaves for garnish
Heat oil or ghee on medium flame in a large pan.
Add chopped garlic and sauté until golden and fragrant.
Add chopped onions and green chilies. Sauté until onions turn translucent.
Add cumin seeds, turmeric, red chili powder and garam masala. Stir and cook for 1-2 minutes to release the flavours.
Add the cooked rice to the pan, add salt and gently toss everything together so the rice is well coated with the masala.
Let the rice cook for 3-4 minutes and let the flavours combine. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot.
