A delectable delicacy that is relished during celebrations and other special events, coconut barfi is a classic Indian treat. A little indulgence is all it takes to enjoy this creamy and coconutty delight, which is made with shredded coconut and condensed milk.
2 cups grated coconut 1 cup condensed milk 1/2 cup sugar 1/4 cup water 1/2 teaspoon cardamom powder 2 tablespoons ghee (clarified butter) Chopped nuts for garnish (optional)
In a non-stick pan, combine grated coconut, condensed milk, sugar, and water. Cook on medium heat, stirring continuously. Once the mixture thickens and starts to leave the sides of the pan, add cardamom powder and ghee. Mix well.
Continue cooking until the mixture forms a soft dough-like consistency. Transfer the mixture to a greased plate or tray, spread evenly, and flatten with a spatula.
Garnish with chopped nuts if desired, then allow it to cool completely. Once cooled, cut into desired shapes and serve. Enjoy the creamy, coconutty goodness of homemade coconut barfi!
