Besan Murukku is a quick and delicious snack perfect for tea time or festive occasions. With simple ingredients like besan, rice flour, and butter, you can make this crispy, savoury treat at home with ease.
1 cup rice flour ½ cup besan 1 tbsp butter 1 tsp oil 1 tsp pepper ½ tsp ajwain ¼ tsp turmeric (optional) 1 pinch asafoetida Salt to taste Oil for deep frying
Mix besan, rice flour, asafoetida, turmeric, pepper, butter, and salt in a bowl.
Pour hot oil into the mixture and mix well until combined.
Add water gradually and knead the dough until soft and smooth.
Fill the dough in a murukku press with star-shaped holes.
Squeeze the dough to form murukkus over a greased ladle or directly over hot oil.
Deep fry in hot oil until the bubble sound reduces, flipping halfway.
Once bubbles cease, drain the murukkus on paper towels and repeat with the rest.
