1 cup whole green lentils (sabut moong dal) 1/4 cup split green gram (moong dal) 1 onion, finely chopped 2 tomatoes, pureed 2 green chilies, slit 1 tablespoon ginger-garlic paste
1 teaspoon cumin seeds 1 teaspoon turmeric powder 1 teaspoon red chili powder 1 teaspoon garam masala 1/2 cup fresh cream 2 tablespoons ghee (clarified butter) Salt to taste Fresh cilantro (coriander) leaves for garnish
Drain soaked lentils and grams and transfer them to a pressure cooker. Add 3 cups of water, salt, and turmeric powder. Pressure cook for 4-5 whistles.
In a pan, heat ghee and add cumin seeds and let them splutter. Then, add the chopped onions, ginger-garlic paste and slit green chillies to the pan.
Add tomato puree to the pan and cook until the oil starts to separate from the mixture. Add red chilli powder and garam masala.
Transfer the cooked lentils and grams to the pan and mix well. Simmer for 10-15 minutes. Garnish with fresh cream and dhaniya.
