Sattu Sharbat is a traditional summer cooler that is not just a refreshing drink but also a powerhouse of nutrients. This drink is made from roasted gram flour (sattu) which is delicious to drink and provides instant energy to help beat the scorching heat. Here’s a simple recipe on how to make this hydrating and refreshing drink.
2-3 tablespoons of sattu (roasted gram flour) 2 cups of chilled water 1 tablespoon of lemon juice 1 tablespoon of sugar or jaggery (adjust to taste) A pinch of black salt A pinch of roasted cumin powder Ice cubes (optional) Fresh mint leaves for garnish (optional)
In a mixing bowl, add sattu, sugar or jaggery, black salt and roasted cumin powder.
Gradually pour chilled water into the bowl and stir continuously to avoid any lumps. Mix well until all the ingredients dissolve.
Squeeze fresh lemon juice and stir again. Adjust the sweetness and tanginess as per your preference.
Once all the ingredients are well combined, pour the sharbat into the serving glass. Add ice cubes to make it extra refreshing.
Garnish with a sprig of fresh mint leaves for added freshness. Serve chilled.
