A basic yet necessary method for preserving the colour, texture, and nutritional content of spinach is blanching it. Blanch spinach like an expert by following these five simple steps.
Start by washing the spinach thoroughly to remove any dirt or debris.
Bring a large pot of water to a rolling boil on the stove.
Submerge the spinach leaves in the boiling water for 1-2 minutes, or until they are bright green and wilted.
Quickly transfer the blanched spinach to a bowl of ice water to stop the cooking process and preserve its colour and texture.
Once the spinach has cooled, drain it well and squeeze out any excess water before using it in your favourite recipes. Enjoy the vibrant and tender blanched spinach in salads, stir-fries, or as a nutritious side dish.
