The Cuban cocktail is a delicious concoction that is said to have been created after the arrival of Americans in Cuba.
The name Cuba Libre refers to Free Cuba in the native language. It was at a bar that Captain Russell coined the term to describe the cocktail.
It is said that the cocktail is associated with the War of Independence of 1898. This is the time when Americans brought Coca Cola to the country with Colonel Rossevelt.
It was at an American bar in Havana that Captain Russell asked for Barcadi rum with Coca Cola and then the soldiers demanded it too. To this, he shouted Cuba Libre and it got its name.
