Variyali sharbat, also known as saunf sharbat is a wholesome and revitalising beverage that is perfect to hydrate you during the summer months. It is made using staple pantry ingredients and comes together quickly for a refreshing drink. Here's a recipe for you to try:
2 tablespoons fennel seeds 1 cup water 2-3 tablespoons sugar (adjust according to taste) Juice of 1 lemon Ice cubes (optional) Fresh mint leaves for garnish (optional)
In a small saucepan, add fennel seeds and water. Bring it to a boil.
Reduce the heat and let it simmer for about 5-7 minutes to infuse the water with fennel flavour.
Turn off the heat and let the fennel-infused water cool down to room temperature.
Strain the fennel seeds from the water and discard the seeds. Add sugar to the fennel-infused water and stir well until the sugar dissolves completely.
Squeeze the juice of one lemon into the sharbat and mix well. Chill the sharbat in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour.
Serve the Variyali Sharbat chilled, with ice cubes if desired, and garnish with fresh mint leaves.
