Narali Bhat is a traditional Marathi sweet rice dish made with coconut and jaggery, offering a delightful blend of flavours and textures. This easy-to-follow recipe will guide you through creating this authentic delicacy at home.
1 cup Basmati Rice (rinsed thrice, soaked for 30 mins, and drained) 1 cup Jaggery (finely chopped) ½ cup Scraped Coconut 4 Cloves ½ tsp Green Cardamom Powder 4 cups + 1 tsp Water 1 tbsp + 1 tbsp Clarified Butter (Ghee) 2 tbsp Cashew Nuts
Heat 1 tbsp ghee in a pan on medium heat and add cloves and drained rice.
Add 4 cups water to the pan, and cook the rice while stirring occasionally.
When rice is 80% cooked, drain it and spread it on a plate to cool.
In a separate pan, melt the jaggery with 1 tsp water and coconut on low heat.
Gradually add the cooled rice to the jaggery mixture, stirring well.
Add cashew nuts, cardamom powder, and the remaining ghee, then cook for 2 minutes.
Let the Narali Bhat cool slightly before serving. Enjoy your homemade sweet treat!
