Enjoy the fiery goodness of homemade Mirchi Vada, spicy green chilies stuffed with a potato filling, deep-fried to perfection. A delicious Indian snack for spicy food lovers!
For the filling: 4-5 large green chilies 2 potatoes, boiled and mashed 1/2 tsp cumin seeds 1/2 tsp mustard seeds 1/2 tsp turmeric powder 1/2 tsp red chili powder 1 tsp ginger-garlic paste 1 tbsp chopped coriander leaves Salt to taste Oil for frying For the batter: 1 cup chickpea flour (besan) 1/4 cup rice flour A pinch of baking soda 1/2 tsp red chili powder A pinch of asafoetida (hing) Salt to taste Water as needed
Wash the green chilies and make a slit lengthwise, removing the seeds and membrane.
In a pan, heat an oil and add cumin seeds and mustard seeds,ginger-garlic paste and sauté.
Add turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt. Mix well. Add the boiled and mashed potatoes and chopped coriander leaves.
Mix everything together and cook. Cool it and Stuff each green chili with it. In a bowl, prepare the batter by mixing chickpea flour.
Add rice flour, red chili powder, asafoetida, baking soda, and salt. Add water gradually to make it smooth.
Now Dip each stuffed chili into the batter, coating it evenly. Shallow fry in oil until crispy.
Drain access oil and enjoy these vadas with tea and chutney.
