Enjoy a rich, aromatic cup of Masala Chai, perfect for winter. With warm spices and a creamy texture, this comforting drink will bring a delicious twist to chilly days.
1 whole cinnamon stick 6–8 green cardamom pods 1 tsp whole black peppercorns 3–4 whole cloves 625 ml water 2 tbsp grated ginger 3 tbsp loose-leaf black tea (or 3–4 tea bags) 500 ml milk Sweetener to taste (stevia, sugar, or maple syrup)
Slightly crush cinnamon, cardamom, peppercorns, and cloves using a mortar and pestle.
Add crushed spices, water, and ginger to a saucepan and bring to a boil.
Lower the heat, and simmer the mixture for 15 minutes until it reduces slightly.
Add tea leaves and milk, then cover and simmer on low for 5 minutes.
Turn off the heat and allow the tea to steep. Cover for another 5 minutes.
Sweeten to taste, then strain the chai through a fine mesh before serving warm.
