As one of the most-consumed condiments around the world, this ketchup recipe to recreate at home, is free of preservatives and full of gut-friendly probiotics.
2 cups tomato puree 3 tablespoons sugar 1 tablespoon onion powder 1 tablespoon garlic powder 2 star anise 1 small piece cinnamon 1.5 tablespoons apple cider vinegar 1.5 tablespoons curd whey 1 teaspoon salt
Add the tomato puree and sugar to a saucepan and stir on low heat for 5 minutes.
Add the seasoning powders and whole spices to cook for a couple of minutes.
Add the salt and remove the whole spices from the puree.
Pour in the whey and vinegar and transfer to a glass bottle.
Set it aside on the counter and shake the bottle thoroughly before opening the lid 2-3 times a day to let the air out.
Refrigerate after 3 days and use within 2-3 weeks.
