Moong dal chakli, also known as pasi paruppu murukku, is a light and crispy snack. With simple ingredients like rice flour and moong dal, this homemade treat is easy to prepare and perfect for any occasion.
½ cup moong dal (pasi paruppu) 2 cups rice flour 1 tbsp sesame seeds 1 tsp cumin seeds 1 tbsp butter at room temperature Salt to taste ¼ tsp asafoetida/hing Oil for deep frying
Wash the moong dal and pressure cook it with 1 cup of water for 2-3 whistles.
Once the pressure releases, mash the cooked moong dal smoothly.
In a mixing bowl, add the rice flour, mashed dal, sesame seeds, cumin seeds, butter, salt, and asafoetida.
Add water gradually to form a soft and pliable dough. Fill the dough into a murukku press with a star-shaped disc.
Heat oil in a kadai and squeeze the chakli directly into the hot oil.
Fry until golden brown, then drain on paper towels before storing.
