One of the fondest memories of Holi is savouring namak pare. Many households add them to the snack basket and keep them out in the open so that children can munch on them while playing with colour. Here is a quick recipe for you to try out.

Ingredients

2 tablespoons rava (semolina) Salt to taste 1 cup all-purpose flour Water as needed ¼ teaspoon ajwain 2 tablespoons ghee Oil for deep frying

Step 1

Knead the dough with water, ajwain (carom seeds), salt, and semolina. Add ghee as well to make namak pare crispy.

Step 2

Rest the dough for 20-30 minutes and roll it into a large circle. You can divide the dough and then roll it.

Step 3

Take a sharp knife or a pizza cutter and cut the large circle into finger-sized strips with a thickness of 1-2 mm.

Step 4

Cut the strips into smaller chunks and keep them aside while ensuring that they do not combine into a lump.

Step 5

Take a large kadhai and heat oil or ghee in it on medium flame. Add namak pare one at a time to prevent them from binding again.

Step 6

Enjoy namak pare with mango or lemon pickle. You can also serve these with a dip of your choice.
