Holi 2023: Non-Fried Vadas With 5 Simple Steps

If you think Holi is all about eating fried food, we have brought an amazing healthy version of a famous Holi treat. Ever tried making a non-fried dahi vada at home?  If not, we have a brough something for you!! Have a look and thank us later! 

Ingredients

½ cup moong dal   ½ cup urad dal   ¼ cup chopped cashews   ¼ cup raaisins   Half a ginger (chopped)   2 green chillies (chopped)   Handful of coriander (chopped)  

Step 1

Take urad dal, moong dal. Wash and soak them overnight. Blend them into a smoother paste. Pour the batter into a bowl and add a pinch of salt.  

Step 2

Whisk well until it turns into a cream-like consistency and thick consistency. When you flip the bowl, the mixture should not fall.   

Step 3

When done, place a spoonful of batter into the idli maker. Add a filling of raisins, cashews and coriander and steam them for 15 minutes.  

Step 4

When it is cooled, unmould the vadas and put them into salted water for 20 to 30 minutes. Squeeze the excess water and set them on a plate.  

Step 5

Add beaten curd, tamarind chutney, green chutney and some boondi. Sprinkle some black salt, red chilli powder, chaat masala and cumin powder.   

Garnish with some coriander and serve!
