Here’s How To Get Perfect Caramelized Onions

Over time, various techniques and preparations, such as caramelized onions, have been developed to give onions a fresh spin. And we thought of sharing how you can caramelize onions like a pro.  

Ingredients 

3 tbsp butter, 2 tbsp olive oil, 350 g thinly sliced white onions, 2 tsp sugar, ¼ tsp salt, ¼ tsp black pepper.  

Step 1 

Cut the onion in half lengthwise after removing the outer layer and trimming off the stalk and roots. Flip them over so the flat side is down and cut them into strips. 

Step 2 

Now, melt butter in a big skillet. Put in some olive oil, and cook it up over medium heat. Keep stirring for a few minutes. 

Step 3 

Now season with salt and pepper and mix in the onions to the skillet. 

Step 4 

The onions should be cooked until they are tender and golden brown in colour, and then two teaspoons of sugar should be added. 

To prevent the onions from sticking to the pan, continue stirring for another 20 minutes. These caramelised pieces are great on top of biryani or any kind of salad.
