This tomato dhaniya shorba is the perfect side dish to accompany your dinner. It has a creamy texture and a lovely tang from the tomatoes, while the dhaniya makes the shorba aromatic and even more flavourful. Here's a quick recipe for you to try:
4 large tomatoes 1/4 cup fresh coriander leaves, chopped 1 medium onion, chopped 2-3 garlic cloves, minced 1-inch ginger, grated 1 green chilli, chopped (optional) 1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder 1/2 teaspoon red chilli powder 1/2 teaspoon garam masala 1 tablespoon of oil or ghee Salt to taste 4 cups water or vegetable broth Lemon juice, to taste Fresh coriander leaves for garnish
Boil tomatoes for 2-3 minutes, peel, and chop. Heat oil or ghee and add cumin seeds. Sauté the onion, garlic, ginger, and chilli until the onions are translucent.
Add turmeric, red chilli powder, and salt. Cook the chopped tomatoes until soft. Add water or broth and bring to a boil.
Blend the mixture until smooth. Return to the pot. Add chopped coriander and garam masala. Simmer for 5 minutes.
Adjust the salt and lemon juice to taste. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves.
