This traditional South Indian meal is a simple yet healthy dish that you can enjoy on a summer day for its light and refreshing flavours. It is also known as Mavinakayi Chitranna in Karnataka and is a staple meal across South India. Here's a recipe that you can try:
2 cups of cooked rice 1/2 cup of mango paste 2 tablespoons of oil 1 teaspoon of mustard seeds 8-10 curry leaves 2-3 green chillies 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder Salt to taste Roasted peanuts or cashew nuts (optional) Fresh coriander leaves for garnish
Make mango paste by blending raw mangoes until smooth.
Heat oil and add mustard seeds, curry leaves, and green chillies.
Add mango paste, turmeric, and salt, and sauté briefly. Mix in cooked rice, add nuts if desired, and combine.
Garnish with coriander leaves. Serve your flavourful raw mango rice and enjoy.
