Get over your white bread and try this healthy, nutrient-packed multigrain bread. You can use it for making sandwiches, toast, to soak up your curries, or to spread some of that peanut butter or jam, as it packs a lot of flavour while also being nutritious.
1 cup whole wheat flour 1 cup all-purpose flour 1/2 cup oats 1/4 cup each of flaxseeds, sunflower seeds, and pumpkin seeds 2 tablespoons of honey or maple syrup 1 packet of active dry yeast 1 cup of lukewarm water 2 tablespoons of olive oil 1 teaspoon salt
Activate the yeast in lukewarm water with honey, maple syrup and oil. In a mixing bowl, combine the dry ingredients.
To create the dough, combine the wet and dry components. Knead the dough for 5–7 minutes until it is smooth.
Let the dough rise in a greased bowl for 1–1.5 hours, or until doubled. Shape the dough into a loaf and allow it to rise again for 30–45 minutes.
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and bake the bread for 30-35 minutes, or until brown.
